I Wonder as I Wander (a new version)
I wonder as I wander out under the sky
Why Jesus the Savior did come forth to die,
For poor orn’ry people like you or like I,
I wonder as I wander out under the sky,
If a sinner, a proud man, one burdened with grief
Could be in His presence or feel His great peace.
I’ve read in the scriptures, where He says to me,
“Cast on me thy burdens, I’ll bear them with ease.”
He healed all the lepers, the sick and the lame,
When I plead for mercy, aren’t I just the same?
Will He hear my anguish when I cry in pain?
Will He reach out and heal me, if I call on his name?
Would this be the reason He came on that night,
To lift all my sorrows and give me a light,
Like the star that appeared and shown so bright
And led the three wise men to him on that night.
I wonder as I wander out under the sky
Why Jesus my Savior did come forth to die,
For poor orn’ry people for you and for I,
I wonder as I wander out under the sky,
