Grandma's Varoom

    So...
    You're going to
    get in your car,
    and then Varoom,
    you crank it right up,

    And then Varoom,
    you speed
    along the highway,
    through many small towns
    and big cities too.

    And then Varoom,
    you storm
    our quaint little village,
    and screech your brakes
    to stop at our door.

    Over the river
    and through the woods...
    I think not!
    You're not on your way
    to Grandmother's House.

    As Grandma,
    you get the fast car,
    the fast lane,
    the hand drawn cards,
    a refrigerator collage.

    Time's a wastin',
    the kids are growin'
    So, Varoom,
    you come to give them
    a hug, a wink, and a kiss.

    Then Varoom, you go,
    Back to your home,
    to a cluttered fridge,
    to hand drawn cards
    and winking pictures.

    Warm memories ours
    of stories shared,
    and cookies made,
    of hands held tight
    and young hearts warmed.

    It's a ploy, it's a game,
    You come like a flash,
    then Varoom,
    the kids hearts will fly
    to be with you again,

    So they too will long,
    as all children long,
    to go Varoom,
    over the river
    and trough the wood.
