I am Dad:
Monster Buster, Myth Debunker, Dragon Slayer, Hero.
I am not the one, you went crying to with skinned knees.
I am the one, who put you on the bike and then let go.
I do not miss caressing you and comforting you.
I miss watching you fly as fast as you could.

    I am Dad:
    Teacher, Instructor, Role Model, Coach.
I am not the one you greeted whenever cameras rolled.
I am the one, who gave you the ball and taught you to throw.
I do not miss the timid wave from the field on game day
I miss teaching you and hoping for you to succeed.

    I am Dad:
    Money Maker, Provider, Guardian, Bank.
I am not the one, who cried profusely when you died.
I am the one, who bought the grave, the box and stone.
I do not miss shopping to buy your clothes or shoes or toys.
I miss planning for your future and saving my dimes.

    I am Dad:
    Confidant, Friend, Dreamer, Guide.
I am not the one, who tucked you in all cozy at night.
I am the one, who kept you up to gaze at the stars.
I do not miss watching you soundly asleep.
I miss the times I spent dreaming with you.

    I am Dad:
    Coconspirator, Schemer, Overgrown Boy.
I am not the one who watched you take your first step.
I am the one, who wrestled and ran with you, panting for breath.
I do not miss seeing you wander about the house.
I miss each day the playful part of me I saw in you.
