Movements of the Heart
How can I forget the night we first met,
The dress that you wore or the music they played.
We danced the night through and I came to know you.
You showed me your smile and told me your dreams.
As we danced arm in arm I grew to love you
How can I forget a Movement of the Heart?
A man may forget the things that he’s learned;
He may not recall the words that he’s heard.
But one thing is sure, he will never forget
The feelings he’s felt or the Movements of the Heart.
I will ever recall how joy filled your eyes,
And that sweet little smile of your showed pure delight,
When I on bent knee looked into your eyes
Spoke words from my heart, “will you marry me?”
The joy and the love which swelled in my heart
As I sensed your reply, ‘twas a movement of the heart!
A man may forget the things that he’s learned;
He may not recall the words that he’s heard.
But one thing is sure, he will never forget
The feelings he’s felt or the Movements of the Heart.
As I write this poem to you my love
And I think how much you mean to me,
I recall how you lift and strengthen me,
How somehow you see someone worth your love,
And my eyes fill with tear of joy and of love.
Once again I feel a movement of the heart.
A man may forget the things that he’s learned,
He may not recall the words that he’s heard.
But one thing is sure, he will never forget
The feelings he’s felt or the Movements of the Heart.
