My Darling, I love You
The ways to show my love are bountiful,
And if I tried enumerating them,
I fear my head would start an irksome spin
And then, indeed, my presence would be dull,
But these are not the words I wish to say,
I long to tell the ways your constant love
Has caused my heart to soar to heights above
And touched my burning soul in glorious ways;
I long to mold and sculpt my thoughts divine
From galvanized clichés and granite words,
To still the ever moving sea with swords,
To tie and hold the burning sun with twine;
Exhausted, wondering which words will do,
I simply say, “my darling, I love you.”
