On Kissing Frogs

I.

Oh would you, could you Kiss a frog?
A purple eyed and green horned frog?
A slimy, grimy, blue striped frog,
with bulging eyes and sticky tongue?

If for this kiss a prince were freed,
and gave you all his love and wealth?
Is this enough to kiss the frog
with budging eyes and sticky tongue?

Perhaps the prince is not so kind;
perhaps his love is cold as snow.
Oh would you like to kiss him now,
the slimy grimy blue striped frog?

Perhaps the prince has lost his wealth;
perhaps he'll cheat and beat his wife.
Oh would you like to kiss him now,
the purple eyed and green horned frog?

Perhaps the frog has lied to you
and he is just a common frog
and not a frog of royal birth.
Oh would you, could you Kiss the frog?
