  • Each Round will take a week to accomplish. On Monday morning participants will be notified by e-mail who the opponent will be for the current round. Game must be accomplished by 2PM Friday and the results turned in to James Garner.
  • The players of each game are required to obtain a chessboard and chessmen for play.
  • The players may choose day and time of season play. (Please give notice so that spectators may be present.)
  • The players may elect to play a warm-up game before season play, or play another game after season play. The nature of the game, whether the official game or otherwise, must be clearly stated before the game starts.
  • A season game must be completed in one session, adjournments will not be permitted. If time constraints require a participant to leave the table, he must conclude the game by either resigning the game, or having a draw offer accepted. Failure to do so is bad form and will be recorded as a resign.
  • Season games are timed with one time control of 30 minutes per side. Maximum game time is 1 hour.
  • The players of the game must determine whether touching a piece requires movement of piece, and this fact must be clearly stated before commencing season play.
  • Color of men shall be determined by one of the following methods:
    1. The flipping of a coin. One player shall toss a coin, while the other calls heads or tails. If caller matches the coin, he(she) shall play white, otherwise he(she) shall play black.
    2. Random Selection of piece. One player shall take one (1) pawn of each color into each hand. The player shall then place the hands behind his(her) back and may exchange pawns between the hands. When he(she) is satisfied, the player must bring his(her) closed fists, each containing one pawn, forward. The opponent must then select which hand contains his (her) pawn. The first player must immediately open his (her) hand to the view of all present. The player selecting the hand will play the color thus chosen.
This selection of color shall take place just before the season game.
NOTE:--This Rule was devised for fairness of play. If a player always elects to play a specific color, this may give him or her an unfair advantage. Please obey it.
  • Spectators are allowed to be present, but must remain silent throughout season play.
